Like with any other game, Clash Royale has its fair share of overpowered cards, with some of them even defining an entire deck archetype.

In other words, when building your lineup, you’ll start with these cards as the foundations, and later, introduce cards that highlight their power.

But, with so many to choose from, which are the best? At igitems, we’ve done the heavy lifting by analyzing the meta, reviewing some of the best strategies, and identifying the best legendary cards in the process.

Ranking Clash Royale’s Most Elite Legendaries

When making the list, we’ve considered each card’s versatility, raw power, and influence on the meta. The following cards give you a massive advantage over opponents, as their high win rates can attest.

15. Ice Wizard

The Ice Wizard is one of the best cards in the game, despite being placed relatively low on our list. Given that you’ll need three elixirs to put the card on the map, it provides incredible value for resources.

Ice Wizard is known for its control as it uses splash damage to slow down nasty tanks. The character works by buying you enough time to eliminate high HP targets, thus managing the slow, methodical pushes of enemies.

Ice Wizard is especially potent against high-speed cycle decks, as it will prevent enemies from quickly reaching your part of the field.

14. Graveyard

This is a strong card; however, it is relatively risky to use, as you’ll need to employ some strategic thinking to maximize its benefits.

The card works by spawning numerous skeletons that roll toward the enemy tower slowly. This can be useful in certain situations, such as when you combine a Graveyard card with a meta tank or poison spell, as it will allow you to clear out the majority of the counters.

By finding the right timing for its placement, you can also circumvent King Tower activation. However, the best thing about this card is that it can quickly overwhelm an unprepared opponent.

13. Ram Rider

Why choose between offense and defense when you can have both? The Ram Rider is a five-elixir hybrid powerhouse. On offense, her charge targets buildings, but it’s her unique snare ability that truly sets her apart.

That lasso can immobilize a charging Prince, ground a Balloon, or slow down a defensive troop, giving your push a critical advantage.

All in all, she’s a one-woman wrecking crew who provides both a solid win condition and excellent crowd control, making her a staple in bridge spam and control decks.

12. Inferno Dragon

Meet the undisputed king of tank-melting. The Inferno Dragon is a flying furnace that locks onto a single target and ramps up its damage over time to terrifying levels. A Golem, P.E.K.K.A., or Lava Hound can be reduced to ashes in moments.

For four elixir, it’s one of the best counters to the heavy beatdown decks that populate the meta. Its only vulnerability is a well-timed Zap or Electro Wizard. Still, if left unchecked, this fiery dragon can single-handedly ruin the most expensive pushes your opponent throws at you.

11. Phoenix

A relative newcomer that scorched its way into the meta, the Phoenix is a lesson in resilience. This four-elixir flying troop boasts solid damage and a respectable health pool. But its signature move is its rebirth.

Upon defeat, it reverts to an egg, and if your opponent can’t destroy it in time, the Phoenix rises again, ready for another fight. This ability to generate a second life for the exact elixir cost makes it an incredible value proposition, perfect for supporting a tank or applying relentless pressure.

10. Night Witch

Behind a Golem, the Night Witch is less of a support troop and more of an angel of death. This four-elixir card spawns a steady stream of Bats, adding aerial chaos to any ground assault. While her melee damage is respectable, it’s the constant bat spawn that overwhelms defenses.

Even after she falls, she releases a final wave of bats as a parting gift. She is the engine of many Golem beatdown decks, turning a slow push into an unstoppable tide of ground and air units.

9. Fisherman

The Fisherman is the ultimate disruptor. For three elixirs, he brings a level of crowd control that is simply unmatched by other cards.

His signature hook can pull a Hog Rider away from your tower, drag a giant into the path of both Princess Towers, or yank a key support troop into a kill zone. He also resets charge attacks from units like the Prince and Ram Rider.

In the right hands, the Fisherman is a defensive card and a strategic tool for repositioning the entire fight to your advantage.

8. Royal Ghost

Invisibility is a powerful weapon. The Royal Ghost drifts across the arena unseen, revealing himself when he strikes with a splash damage attack. For three elixir, he is a fantastic counter to ground swarms like the Skeleton Army or Goblin Gang.

His ability to skip through initial targeting also makes him a tricky and effective troop for split-lane pressure or supporting a push, as he takes out defensive, squishy soldiers before they can react. He’s the silent assassin of the Clash Royale roster of cards.

7. Princess

The original long-range queen, the Princess, remains a cornerstone of Log Bait decks for a reason. Her incredible range allows her to splash arrows onto troops and towers from the safety of the opposite lane.

For three elixirs, she forces a strong reaction from enemy players. If your opponent ignores her, she’ll chip away at their tower’s health. If they use a spell like The Log or Arrows on her, you gain an elixir advantage to deploy your Goblin Barrel. She is the epitome of a low-risk, high-reward investment.

6. Lumberjack

Pure, bottled fury. The Lumberjack is a four-elixir agent of chaos. He swings fast, hits hard, and moves at lightning speed. But his actual value is revealed in death. When defeated, he drops a Rage spell, supercharging any friendly troops in the vicinity.

Pairing him with a Balloon is one of the most iconic and hard-hitting combos in the game. Lumberjack’s best feature is that he can turn a regular push into a crazy one, shredding towers in the process.

5. Magic Archer

This four-elixir troop fires a geometric bolt that pierces through every enemy in its path. A well-placed Magic Archer can snipe a key support unit and hit the enemy tower simultaneously, generating immense value.

His high skill ceiling rewards players who can spot the perfect angles, turning defensive stands into strong counter-pushes. He’s a favorite in bridge spam and cycle decks where his chip damage and defensive potential shine.

4. Bandit

The Bandit is a master of momentum. Her invulnerable dash defines this three-elixir troop. She charges at her target, becoming immune to all damage mid-dash, allowing her to bypass logs, survive Sparky blasts, and easily cross the bridge under fire. She’s a core component of bridge spam decks for her ability to apply immediate pressure

3. Electro Wizard

A walking, talking reset button. The Electro Wizard, or “E-Wiz,” is one of the most versatile cards in the game. His spawn deploys with a built-in Zap, instantly clearing swarms or resetting attackers. Each of his split attacks briefly stuns his targets, permanently shutting down an Inferno Dragon or Sparky.

For four elixirs, he provides air and ground defense, stuns, and spawn damage. He’s the ultimate utility player, fitting seamlessly into almost any deck that needs a reliable, multi-talented defender.

2. The Log

According to many pros, The Log is arguably one of the most important Legendary cards ever released. For two elixirs, it provides a massive area of denial on the ground, wiping out Princesses, Dart Goblins, and entire Goblin Barrels for a positive elixir trade.

Its knockback effect can also buy crucial seconds against heavier troops. Its presence in the meta is so profound that it gave birth to an entire deck archetype: Log Bait. No other card offers so much control for such a low cost.

1. Miner

Here he is. The king. The underground MVP. For three elixir, the Miner has a game-breaking yet straightforward ability: he can be deployed anywhere in the arena. This makes him the most reliable source of chip damage in the entire game.

He can be sent to take out a pesky Elixir Collector, snipe a Princess, or, most commonly, whittle down a tower, one shovel-full at a time.

He is the cornerstone of Miner Control decks, a testament to his flexibility, and a card that has remained at the pinnacle of the meta since his release.

He doesn’t have the flashiest stats or the highest damage output, but his presence makes him the best and most influential Legendary card in Clash Royale.
