The Most Hated Fortnite Skins of All Time

Fortnite has released over 2,650 skins since the launch of the game. While there have been iconic and favorite ones among the player community, it’s unavoidable that some will be disliked or outright rejected for various reasons, including lazy reskins, downright awful designs, or even those that are subject to hate simply for what they came to represent.

Here are the most hated Fortnite skins of all time, from the straight-up ugly ones to those that infuriated the community simply for existing.

Superhero Skins (Boundless Set)

This skin was launched as a customizable outfit in Chapter 2 Season 4, but soon proved controversial. Certain players set all costume colors to either black or white and ended up with an unfair match advantage. Black made it almost impossible to spot someone in the shadows, while white perfectly blended into bright surfaces, with the community branding the costume a pay-to-win item for 1,800 V-Bucks.

While Epic intervened by disabling single-color combinations of the outfit and even offering refunds, the damage was done.

Dynamo

This is a lucha libre-themed outfit that costs 1,200 V-Bucks, and while it’s not considered ugly or abusable, it came to be hated for the kind of people it came to represent. It was worn by Streamers for content, Pub-stompers, and griefers for the kicks. The animosity it receives is more about how it came to symbolize such people, as a result of its widespread use at some point.

Flytrap

Legendary skins in the game are priced at 2000 V-Bucks, but their price is made up for by their premium designs, though that doesn’t seem to apply to Flytrap. It's a Season 4 launch that is grotesque, with a plant theme in red and green, which many have likened to a piece of rotting fruit.

Beyond the design, it’s also missing key features of Legendary skins, such as unique details or animations. The only real standout is its reputation as one of the worst outfits in existence today.

Moisty Merman

This is a Season 4 outfit released as a reference to the old Moisty Mire, but its lumpy character model and ugly mix of colors made it seem like an homage gone wrong. Being a Legendary skin, its 2000 V-Bucks price tag is considered overkill and has come to be recognized as one of the most overpriced skins in the game.

Mincemeat

Mincemeat was released as part of the Baker’s Nightmare Set, and the name certainly does it justice, having captured the very spirit that made this outfit infamous. Its combination of a skeletal appearance and food makes for a truly disturbing sight.

Its price of 1,500 V-Bucks is not so glaring, but it’s so disturbing that most people just scroll past it, mostly to spare themselves from having a nightmare later in the day. Most people who use it do so just for the joy of spooking their own squad.

The Brat

With the release of Peely, it was proven that silly food skins could be a hit, but The Brat is such an obvious attempt at recreating that success that it backfired. The fact that it just isn’t funny or fun to use made most people wince at the idea of spending 800 V-Bucks for an uncommon skin, even when that amount isn’t even close to the price of premium outfits in the game.

Fabio Sparklemane

The titular outfit is a humanoid horse with rainbow hair, a shiny coat, and awkward-looking eyes. It was released as part of Chapter 2 Season 8 Battle Pass, so it didn’t cost extra to obtain, but players who obtained it wanted a refund anyway.

It became known for how painful it was to see, as embodied by the seemingly pained expression on Fabio’s face as he did his built-in emote. This outfit became hated for its aggressively random brand of humor that feels like it was forcefully designed for virality in mind.

Trog

This outfit was designed to be a goofy but lovable yeti, but missed its mark. Instead, it became something that was not cool enough to be cool, and not funny enough to be a joke skin, landing squarely in no man’s land. For 1,500 V-Bucks, players just weren’t willing to buy an item that could only plainly be described as boring.

Grimbles

Released as a holiday season skin, this creepy garden gnome failed to charm the community with its eyes that feel like they’re about to capture your soul should you stare directly into them. It’s not terribly expensive at 1,200 V-Bucks, and still pops up in the item shop during the holidays, but the only thing you’ll hear echoed is why anyone would want to buy it.

Sinister Striker

Soccer skins have a complicated relationship with the game owing to the community’s sweat stigma, but Sinister Striker takes this to a whole other level. This uncommon outfit is a zombie-themed soccer player, resulting in an aesthetic that clashes just as badly as it sounds.

It’s not scary at all, failing as a horror skin.  But it also looks too shabby to work as a Sports theme, and becomes one of those skins that end up landing in a space that caters to absolutely no one. Its 800 V-Bucks price tag is the only thing it has going for it, but even then, it’s not something that just anyone would buy, unless you’re collecting the worst skins in the video game.

Building a Locker You Actually Like

The game has a whopping 2,650 skins, so players are bound to find outfits they like, but collecting all of those outfits can prove to be a challenge. Rare skins and popular Battle Pass exclusives could take years to obtain if you missed them the first time around.

If you want a locker loaded with the best outfits, browse Fortnite Accounts that already have a stacked collection. Some accounts come with skins so rare, they haven’t been available in years. Or if you’re just in need of V-Bucks, igitems also offers Fortnite V-Bucks top-ups to get you ready for the next outfit rotation.
