Can You Buy or Sell a Clash of Clans Clan? Clan Trading Explained

Two Ways of Buying a Clash of Clans Clan

First is a leadership transfer: you join the clan and get promoted to Co-Leader, and the Leader then promotes you to Leader. You keep your village all while inheriting the name, badge, clan level, war log, and Clan Capital.

The second way is buying the Leader’s account outright, which comes with the clan.

Can You Change a Clan’s Name After Buying It?

Clan names in Clash of Clans are unchangeable, so only the badges and descriptions are editable; it’s also one of the reasons why English-name clans tend to list higher.

What You're Actually Getting When You Buy a Clan

Clan level is built from clan XP earned in wars won, Clan Games reward tiers, and Raid Weekends. But here’s one thing that listings rarely ever mention: clan perks stop improving at level 10. A level 29 clan donates exactly what a level 10 can.

Clan Perks by Clan Level

Clan Level

What Improves

Why It Matters

2 to 4

Treasury storage, donation cap, war bonus loot 10%

Small gains. Multiplied by 50 members

5

Donated troops arrive a level higher. War loot 15%

The first perk you actually feel

7

Fourth spell donation slot, war loot 20%

Added for level 7+ clans in the TH18 update

9

War loot maxed at 25%, donation cap maxed

One member can fill a Castle request alone

10

Donated troops upgraded two levels. Treasury +50%

The ceiling worth paying for

11 and up

Nothing new

Prestige and recruiting pull

The full Clan Perks system shows how Clan XP unlocks donation upgrades, Treasury storage, donation limits, and war-loot bonuses as clans level up.

Clan Capital and Capital Hall Level

Buyers ignore Capital Hall, which is undeniably a separate asset altogether. It runs until level 10, and within levels 2 to 9, you can unlock one of the eight districts that fall under Capital Peak, which caps how far each District Hall can go.

One thing, though, is that you can't use Gems to instantly progress your Clan Capital; you can only ever earn Capital Gold through Raid Weekends that span every Friday to Monday.

How Clan Trading Actually Works

  1. Check the details. Check the clan level, Capital Hall Level, CWL league history, war win streaks, member count, and the clan name itself; since names can't be changed, it's worth considering.

  2. Check the seller; take a peek at their reviews and any finished orders. Always ask for a live screenshot of the clan profile and war history.

  3. Enter the clan. Join the clan and ensure you get promoted to Co-Leader.

  4. Take leadership. Once you're promoted to Leader, confirm that you see the crowns icon next to your name before doing anything else.

  5. Secure the clan. Demote or kick out the old Leader's account. Reset and adjust the entry settings as you like, then send the final payment.

Clash of Clans Items Sold Alongside Clans

Capital Gold and Raid Medals stay with the player who has them; ignore any listings that try to sell them to you separately. Always remember that what transfers with an account are the things that are tied to it; think of the gems, the updated Gold Pass, and magic items like Books of Heroes, Runes, etc.

Buy a Clan, Buy an Account, or Just Join One?

Joining a fully upgraded clan is completely free. Level 20+ clans playing in CWL look for players all the time. They require a specific Town Hall level and strong heroes, though.

Buying a high-level account is the best option if you want to skip the long, arduous upgrade grind.

Buying an entire clan only makes sense if your goal is to manage one, which is an option that gives you full control over the clan's description, badge design, war schedule, and member roster.

Staying Safe When You Buy a CoC Clan

Scams follow predictable patterns if you know what to look for. A seller might promote you to Co-Leader and disappear, use a stolen leader account, or use identity recovery to steal and get the account back from you weeks later.

Screenshot and pay only through a marketplace that holds your money in escrow until you've confirmed you're in control of the account.
