Riot Games has finally confirmed that a LoL MMO is in the works. Here’s what we know about the League of Legends MMO:

The LoL universe has exploded in the last year because Riot added card games, auto-battlers, and “The Ruined King.” There’s even a fighting game for the Runeterra world now.

This means it has reached a natural endpoint. There’s a massive multiplayer online game that’s set in the LoL universe!

Marc Merill is the LoL founder and teased about plans for the MMORPG back in 2019. Just 12 months later, Gregg Street, the Riot vice president, officially confirmed that Riot Games was developing the most anticipated LoL title ever!

Is There a Release Date?

Riot Games hasn’t provided people with an official release date for League of Legends MMO. Gregg Street did say that it was working on the project and offered job applications.

Therefore, LoL developers are still in the early stages, though some say Riot was working on the project before the announcement was made. That might bring the game’s timeline up a bit and set it as a late 2023 release. However, we’re probably looking at about mid-2024 to see this huge LoL title. Getting your hand on a good LoL account is often not an easy task, but it can be made by buying one.

What We Know about Regions for the MMO

There aren’t details about the regions available in LoL MMO, but Riot currently picks its champions from 13 named areas, so we’re sure to see those in the new title.

You may also see more civilized main regions similar to Piltover, Noxus, and Demacia. Still, fantastical territories are likely crucial and can appear as Shurima, Bilgewater, and Bandle City.

Here are Runeterra’s 13 regions:

  • Zaun
  • The Void
  • The Freljord
  • Targon
  • Shurima
  • Shadow Isles
  • Piltover
  • Noxus
  • Ixtal
  • Ionia
  • Demacia
  • Bilgewater
  • Bandle City

Riot Games may only choose some of them.

Is There a Game Map Available?

It hasn’t been confirmed yet that the LoL MMO is set to copy Runeterra, but most people might be surprised if that didn’t happen. That way, players can navigate the fantasy land by venturing across the regions or through fast travel.

What We Know about the Classes

If Riot Games decides to stick to the same design as others, we expect to see many classes or professions to define each character. They tend to focus on the standard tropes like Wizard, Healer, and Fighter. Though League of Legends is different, champions fall into similar roles with some variance.

However, there’s no way to know if the developers might decide on the same classes or go with something completely different.

RPG Raids in LoL MMO

League of Legends MMO should have RPG raids. In fact, Gregg Street admitted that the end-game Raids in the new RPG are the most important factor. He said that he’d be crushed if the team didn’t deliver on those battles.

However, Riot Games hasn’t unveiled what the LoL raids might look like.

Conclusion

Overall, it’s too soon to say what Riot Games might do for the LoL MMO. You’ve learned what we know about the League of Legends MMO and how it might look or feel. Though it should be similar to others, there’s no way to know until it’s ready!
