What Are the Minimum Fortnite System Requirements?

Console players don’t have to deal with system requirements, but if you are playing Fortnite on a computer, you have to make sure your computer meets the minimum requirements to play. You can run the game if you play on a decent PC, but those computers with lower specs will have trouble rendering the textures the game needs.

Some players try to play the game on PCs that go a bit below the minimum requirements to run it, but they don’t have a decent gaming experience, and the game itself crashes a lot too.

Read on to know Fortnite’s minimum requirements for PCs and laptops. We also added the recommended specs you need to run Fortnite the way it was intended by the developers.

Minimum System Requirements for Fortnite on PC

If you want to download Fortnite and run it on your PC, you need to have a computer or laptop with the following specs:

  • Processor: Core i3-3225 - 3.3 Ghz
  • Memory: 8 GB RAM
  • Video Card: Intel HD 4000 or AMD Radeon Vega 8
  • Operative System: Windows 7 64-bit or Mac OS Mojave 10.14.6

Keep in mind that this is the minimum you need to run the game, but that doesn’t mean you will be able to run it at its full potential. You will still need to lower its graphics for your computer to run the game decently.

Many people don’t enjoy playing Fortnite this way, so they prefer not to do it. You won’t be able to run the game if you set it to have better graphics. We recommend closing any other tabs on your computer to improve its performance.

Going to your computer task manager and closing unnecessary background processes can help too.

Optimal System Requirements for Fortnite on PC

If you want to play Fortnite the way you are supposed to play it, you need a PC with better specs than the minimum we just mentioned. Here are the recommended requirements to play Fortnite on your computer:

  • Processor: Core i5-7300U 3.5 GHz or AMD Ryzen 3 3300U
  • Memory: 8 GB RAM or higher
  • Video card: Nvidia GTX 960 or AMD R9 280
  • Operative System: Windows 10/11 64-bit

You’ll be able to set up the game to run on better graphics if you play on a better PC, which ensures a much better gaming experience. Keep in mind that, if you want to get those graphics settings up, you will need to get a more powerful PC.

Most gaming laptops or PCs are built to run games with medium or high graphics settings, but we recommend you still check their specs before buying them.

Is Playing Fortnite Better on PC or Gaming Consoles?

The truth is you may not notice the difference between running the game on PC or consoles unless you are a professional player or a picky one. You should make a decision based on your taste if you are a casual player.

However, most Fortnite pro players play on PC because it allows them to get to 300FPS, while the PS5 or Xbox Series X only give them a maximum of 120FPS. The difference between both is huge if you are a pro, but it’s difficult to notice if you play for fun.

Streamers also prefer playing on their PCs since it allows them to manage everything from the stream on the same device. Besides that, professional streamers often have the latest PC equipment on the market.

Wrapping Up

Fortnite is one of the most mainstream games right now, and if you want to enjoy it as much as you can, make sure to get a PC with the optimal specs to run it. However, not everyone can afford a state-of-the-art PC, so you can still play it on a computer with low specs if you lower the game’s graphics.

Since Fortnite is an online game, playing on a computer that doesn’t run the game well could put you at a disadvantage when playing against players with better PCs.

This is also a problem for gamers who play competitively in other popular games, such as League of Legends or Valorant, as ranked matches are really important for them. However, they can address that problem by paying an Elo booster to get them to a higher rank
