League of Legends: Renata Glasc, the Latest Champion Release 2022

In February 2022, Riot Games revealed the newest champion coming to League of Legends, Renata Glasc. She is a Chem-Baroness, the city of Zaun's most powerful mastermind. She heals her comrades and disables her adversaries with her enhanced limbs and alchemical concoctions.

Renata is a hyper-capitalist who utilizes her authority to gain power and influence while helping the poor citizens in Zaun. However, she also threatens them, making her an intimidating and authoritarian figure. Renata was so ambitious that she wanted to be in charge of the Sun Gate, Runeterra's global trade and business affairs. She used her parents’ technology to rise up against her enemies and to enable her allies.

Who is Renata Glasc?

Renata wasn't always well-off. In truth grew up in a family of extremely poor alchemists. Renata despised her parents for providing free services to the poor inhabitants of Zaun who couldn't afford to pay them because she, too, was bothered by poverty. Because of this, her parents failed to provide her with food and care as a result of their generosity.

Renata's parents, house, and even her arm had all been taken from her. Renata resolved to work on herself using the remaining information and her family's medical technology, determined not to repeat her parents' mistakes and avenge their deaths.

Renata finally developed a corporation that grew to become the industry's leading business, as well as an empire. She used her clout to find the bright people required to finish her parents’ work and applied them in real life. Renata had the means to control whomever she wanted when they concluded the research.

Renata’s Gameplay

Renata has a large armory of Chemtech weapons that she can deploy whenever she wants in the game. She possesses rockets that can protect her allies while also causing damage to opponents, as well as a metal arm that can physically push enemies to move in the direction she wishes. She even uses medicine to bring back allies who have died, giving them a second chance at life. Furthermore, her ultimate unleashes a chemical storm that causes enemies to battle one another. Renata has complete influence over the battlefield, whether it's via making opponents fight their own comrades or physically pushing them where she wants.

Power for a Price

At a glance, it appears that you can only do so much to turn an enchanter wicked. You're offering your friend a few of your abilities in exchange for nothing when you heal, shield, or boost them. If you go further, there are other methods to make enchanter mechanics nastier.

“We discussed making a dark enchanter pretty early in the process,” recalls game designer Blake “Squad5” Smith. “So, I started by focusing on the outputs of an enchanter: protecting your teammates and enabling them to succeed. Then I thought about how I could give a more sinister twist to those mechanics.”

All of Renata's abilities are references to real-world financial terms.

  • Leveraged. Leveraged finance is the use of an above-normal amount of debt, as opposed to equity or cash to finance the purchase of investment assets.

  • Handshake. A handshake is a famous accordance social act between two negotiators.

  • Bailout. A bailout is when a business, an individual, or a government provides money and resources (also known as a capital injection) to a failing company.

  • Loyalty Program. A Loyalty Program is a marketing strategy designed to encourage customers to continue to shop at or use the services of a business associated with the program.

  • Hostile Takeover. Hostile Takeover occurs when an acquiring company attempts to take over a target company against the wishes of the target company's management.
