Exploring the Vast Seas of Skull and Bones: A Guide to All Map Regions

Skull and Bones, Ubisoft's latest pirate-themed adventure, offers players a vast open world to explore, filled with danger, treasure, and naval battles. Inspired by the success of Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, this game invites players to conquer the Indian Ocean, battling against both AI and player-controlled pirates. With a map spanning 625 square kilometers, understanding the different regions is crucial for any aspiring pirate. Here’s a breakdown of the map regions you can explore in Skull and Bones.

The Red Isle

  • Location: Central region, resembling Madagascar
  • Features: The starting point for all players, hosting the Pirate Den of Sainte Anne and the military base Fort du Lys. It's a crucial trade hub between the East and West, featuring 3 main factions, 8 outposts, and 10 settlements.

The Coast of Africa

  • Location: Western region, echoing the landscapes of Mozambique, Tanzania, Kenya, and Somalia
  • Features: This vast area has no Pirate Den but includes military bases Grand-Fort and Fort-du-Bout. It's home to 2 main factions, 8 outposts, and 9 settlements.

The East Indies

  • Location: Eastern portion of the map, mirroring Singapore, Malaysia, and Cambodia
  • Features: The Pirate Den of Telok Penjarah lies here, surrounded by the most military bases in the game. This region is controlled by 2 factions, with 11 outposts and 8 settlements.

The Open Seas

  • Location: Represents the Indian Ocean, connecting Africa to East Asia
  • Features: Dominated by the dangerous Rogues faction, this vast water body has 6 outposts but no Pirate Den or Settlements, emphasizing naval exploration and combat.

Future Expansions

The northern portion of the map remains locked, with Ubisoft promising its unveiling with the full game launch on February 16, 2024. This upcoming expansion is anticipated to add even more depth and exploration opportunities to the already expansive world of Skull and Bones.

Skull and Bones not only challenges players with its immersive naval combat but also invites them to navigate its massive world, filled with secrets to uncover and territories to conquer. Whether you're engaging in trade, seeking out epic battles, or exploring uncharted waters, each region offers unique opportunities and dangers. As the game continues to evolve, so too will the strategies and adventures available in these waters.
