The current patch tipped the balance with reworks, nerfs, and the emergence of an absurdly high win-rate jungle monster in Nidalee. But these League of Legends meta shifts come in fast, so there's not a lot of time to learn before a new set arrives. This LoL tier list will keep you up to speed on the best champions to play.
April 2026 Meta Snapshot: What Changed in Patch 26.7
Shyvana's rework had such a dramatic impact on the game that she received a hotfix within a day, resulting in her not even ranking anymore. Ahri lost base Q damage, resulting in having a weaker hold on mid-lane with a reduction of 5 per rank. Pyke also got nerfed with base armor dropping to 37 from 43, too lean for bottom lane.
Other changes were Azir's scaling buffs restored, and Zaahen getting nerfed after proving too dominant in both top lane and jungle.
How We Rank These Champions
Win rate, pick rate, and ban rate are all based on data from Emerald+ solo queues on Summoner's Rift globally. These latest patch ban rates and pick rates are combined with pro player trends, accessibility, skill requirements, and team synergies. Win rate is relative to other data, meaning a character with a 55% win rate but a 1% pick rate is more of an outlier than a lock-in at S-Tier.

S-Tier: The Champions Who Warp the Game Around Them
Nidalee (Jungle) maintains an impressive 62.3% win rate with her early-game pressure and cougar-form burst damage, able to clear out enemy team junglers before second camp. Darius (Top Lane) has no existing weak matchups.
Twisted Fate (Mid Lane) gained ground after Ahri's nerfs, and his ganks utilizing a Gold Card and Destiny combo give him a competitive edge as the best map-wide pressure tool in solo queue. Jinx (ADC) remains the most consistent carry for bottom lane throughout ELO.
Soraka's Ultimate makes her the best blind pick support, while Diana continues to win 5v5 with fast clearing and crowd control. Garen still has a strong punish game with silence-and-execute, and Katarina fuels snowballs with Voracity resets. These S-tier champions are unmatched right now.
A-Tier: Reliable Picks That Win Games
Viego (Jungle) is best for turning team fights by possessing champions, and Kayle (Top Lane) can unleash a level-16 power spike with team-carry potential through her late-game scaling. Ahri (Mid-lane) is still highly viable despite nerfs to her kit.
Caitlyn and Xayah are the best bot lane champions in this group, both excelling at consistent attack damage output. These support champions, Leona and Thresh, provide engage and peel, while Shen's Stand United is still one of the best Ultimates for map play.
B-Tier: Solid Picks in the Right Hands
These champions perform well, but with a catch or restriction. Olaf (Top Lane) received buffs, mostly to jungling, and retains the ability to run backlines with Ragnarok. Jarvan IV (Jungle) is a reliable ganker in addition to Cataclysm lockdown, but falls off late-game.
Viktor (Mid Lane) has immobility that's too vulnerable against assassins, and Miss Fortune (ADC) has Double Up as punish but lacks mobility for self-peel against aggressive mid laners. You can see this pattern for every champ here. Nami (Support) pairs well with aggressive ADCs but not passive laners.
C-Tier: Niche Picks That Need Perfect Conditions
Some champions require conditions that are too strict or restrictive, making them less viable, relegating them to this group. Kassadin needs to survive a whole 25 minutes before he gets rolling. Ezreal (ADC) requires top precision to even match damage numbers from Jinx or Caitlyn.
Yuumi (Support) is too specialized with superior utility and no lane pressure, while Udyr (Jungle) clears camps quickly but is too predictable for effective ganking.
D-Tier: Avoid Unless You Enjoy Suffering
These are picks better left off the roster in the current meta. Pyke (Support) lost 6 base armor, resulting in bad matchups costing half his HP. Zeri (ADC) is in rebalance hell, while Ryze (Mid Lane) remains a solo queue trap with high skill requirements that mostly yield bad results.
Climb Smarter, Not Harder
Any champions guide is a blueprint for success that helps you improve, though it still requires player skill. Do your due diligence and learn 2 or 3 champions for versatility. If you want to ensure availability for all League of Legends champions on the roster, or if you just want to skip the grind, rank-ready accounts from igitems fulfill both needs. There are also LoL boosting services for hitting target ranks sooner.
This page will be updated once Patch 26.8 drops with the latest patch notes, so check back again in two weeks.
