Overwatch 2 Release Date
At the 2019 BlizzCon, Blizzard announced that Overwatch 2 remains to be in its initial stages of development and has no idea when it will be out.

This Beta and future tests are vital for discovering and correcting balance flaws. Overwatch 2's PvE and PvP modes will be separated in the game
Overwatch 2's new maps, modes, and heroes were always meant to be free updates to the first game. Still, Blizzard decided to separate Overwatch 2's PvP from PvE and released it at various periods. For Blizzard to offer new content, it is making this shift, and the Overwatch 2 closed beta begins in April.
Overwatch 2 is expected to be released by 2022. The new PvP elements will have more time to settle in because it appears that PvE is taking longer than intended.

What is Overwatch 2
It's a sequel to Overwatch, but not in the sense that we generally think of sequels. Overwatch 2 appears to be more of a PvE-centric expansion than a full-fledged sequel. PVE is divided into Story and Hero missions
PvE will be the focus of Overwatch 2's gameplay. This time, Overwatch players can join forces with their favorite characters from previous games to take on a robotic army known as Null Sector in cooperative Story Missions.
Battle.net gamers will "join forces to defend the Earth from the Omnic forces of Null Sector, understand the reasoning behind the robotic armies' attacks, and face growing new threats around the globe," according to Blizzard.
